This badge has carried our flag for over 100 years. This summer, on our own soil, we chase our biggest dream yet.
The first ever World Cup kicked off in Uruguay. Our team was a mix of factory workers and immigrants. We beat Belgium. We beat Paraguay. We made it all the way to the semifinals. It is still our best finish ever.
England was the best team on Earth. Odds makers gave us almost no shot at this World Cup. Then Joe Gaetjens scored one goal. We beat England, 1 to 0. People still call it one of the greatest upsets in sports history.
For the next nine World Cups in a row, we did not qualify. Soccer faded into the background here. For almost 40 years, we only watched from home.
We finally came back in 1990. Then in 1994, the World Cup came to us. We hosted the whole tournament, and for the first time in 60 years, our team made it out of the group stage.
We beat Portugal. We beat Mexico for the first time ever at a World Cup. We pushed mighty Germany to the final whistle and lost by just one goal. We reached the quarterfinals, our best finish in over 70 years.
Down to the last minute against Algeria, Landon Donovan scored. The whole country erupted at once. That single goal sent us through, on top of our group for the first time since 1930.
For the first time since 1986, we did not qualify. There was no USA jersey at the World Cup that summer. It broke our hearts. It also lit a fire.
Christian Pulisic and a young, hungry squad fought their way back. We reached the Round of 16 again. The fire was just getting started.
We have never lifted the World Cup trophy. Not once.
The World Cup is back on our soil for the first time since 1994. This summer, our team has come out swinging. We beat Paraguay, 4 to 1. We beat Australia too. This roster is hungrier than any before it.
This could be the year that changes everything.
Picture it. The final whistle blows. Our team wins the World Cup for the first time ever. What will you be wearing in that moment?
It carries every underdog win. Every heartbreak. Every comeback. When you put it on, you are not just watching from the couch. You are part of the story.
